True to his Afro-Cuban roots, Sosa creates a spirited vision of artistic generosity that embraces humanity at large. Quarteto Americanos is Sosa’s first U.S.-based jazz ensemble since the 1990s. The group features drummer Josh Jones, bassist Ernesto Mazar Kindelán, and saxophone/clarinet/flute player Sheldon Brown. The ensemble came together in February 2021 during Sosa’s visit to the Bay Area for live streams. Reuniting with Josh and Sheldon was a gratifying experience for Sosa, as he had played extensively with them in the late 1990s.
